Like, Im not sure if I ever used Stone or Wood once in the game. Theres still a lot of things I dont quite understand, but thats most likely because this is a demo, and so everything isnt in the game yet, or fleshed out. I went from understanding nothing and getting my butt handed to me, to being an overlord in just minutes. Died a LOT the first couple attempts, but around the 7th I got the hang of it and have been going on a rampant power trip just decimating everything in my path. Dont want to ramble but I ended up in a couple situations where I got stuck, but I eventually found my way out and how to overcome it lol.Īs with any roguelike or roguelite, it took a while to get used to. Even focusing on the monsters and my house sometimes costs me my plants if Im not careful with those because they will destroy them easily, and sometimes I end up in a situation where I have to die because my hunger is too high to do anything but I have no plants to eat to reduce it. It took me a while to wrap my head around all of it because it intertwined with everything so intricately, and it felt like it just comes at you so quick sometimes. Its the first of its kind in this genre for me at least, where you have to play this weird balancing act of growing plants that attract monsters that you have to defeat in order to level up, but those plants are also to help you lower your hunger, but you are costing hunger at the same time just to maintain those, and can easily find yourself swarmed by monsters just trying to maintain these plants also based on what you planted and how many you planted, and the only reason you are being attack is because of the plants you planted yourself, and if you get swarmed and your house destroyed it can set you back a LOT. Reminds me of Dont Starve in terms of aesthetic.
